Partnering to Achieve Health Care Excellence

The West Virginia Medical Institute (WVMI) is a nonprofit, physician-sponsored organization dedicated to improving the health of the people we serve. WVMI operates two affiliate corporations, Quality Insights of Delaware (QID) and Quality Insights of Pennsylvania (QIP), which serve their respective states.

WVMI was founded in 1973 as the educational arm of the West Virginia State Medical Association. Since then, we've evolved into an independent, multifaceted national resource for quality improvement. Our staff of more than 235 professionals serves the quality improvement needs of the Department of Veterans Affairs, Medicare, state Medicaid programs and private payers.

As our customers' needs have expanded, our quality improvement tools have evolved. We've taken our expertise in individual case review and developed far-reaching applications. Evidenced-based treatment guidelines, computerized review and analysis of medical records and near real-time feedback of health information let clinicians bring about real improvements in patients' health. Our newest set of skills allows us to apply sophisticated computerized techniques to ensure the validity of health care data. We have grown in size and sophistication because we are committed to the values that have been the hallmark of WVMI for more than a quarter of a century. Honesty, integrity, foresight, fairness, service, creativity and quality are more than words in the annual report. They're our guiding principles as we pursue our mission.
